2026-07-17T10:30:03DENVER—Colorado PERA is conducting searches for General Counsel and Chief Audit Executive positions, both of which are part of PERA’s executive leadership team.
The General Counsel is responsible for implementing, maintaining and protecting the Association’s legal posture and interests within the scope established by Colorado Statute, PERA’s Board of Trustees, and the Association’s CEO. This position handles complex and high-level legal matters requiring deep expertise in specialized areas such as member benefits, litigation support and strategy, health care, fiduciary issues, ethics, investments, contracts, employment law, open meetings, compliance, and governance. This position serves as a member of the executive leadership team, providing expertise and experience to the PERA policy and decision-making process. This role oversees a team of attorneys and paralegals, manages relationships with external counsel, and collaborates with executive leadership to ensure that PERA’s mission is carried out in a legally sound, ethical, and cost-effective manner.
The Chief Audit Executive is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive, independent assessment on the adequacy and effectiveness of governance, risk management, and control processes for Colorado PERA. Responsible for conducting audits and advisory services in accordance with the Internal Audit Charter, which is approved by the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees. This includes reporting conditions perceived to pose risks or potential losses to the organization, and for notifying management and the Audit Committee of perceived irregularities, fraud, or other acts detected through the application of usual and customary audit procedures. This position reports directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees and works under the administrative supervision of the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer.
PERA will be accepting applications for the General Counsel position through August 2, 2026 and the Chief Audit Executive position through August 30, 2026.
