Four Board Seats Up for Election in 2022
In May 2022, Colorado PERA will hold an election for the following seats on the Board of Trustees:
- School Division—4-year term (To be filled by an active employee of a public school, not including Denver Public Schools)
- State Division (Higher Education)—4-year term (To be filled by an active employee from an Institution of Higher Education)
- State Division/Special Election—2-year term (To be filled by an active employee at any employer assigned to the State Division, other than an Institution of Higher Education)
- Local Government Division—4-year term (To be filled by an active employee at a Local Government employer)
If you’re interested in running for a seat on PERA’s Board, please complete the Board of Trustees 2022 Election Candidacy Packet Request on www.copera.org.
Candidacy packet requests can be made beginning on January 3, 2022, and continuing through March 1, 2022. If you have difficulty accessing the online candidacy packet request link, please email election@copera.org.
PERA recommends requesting a packet as early as possible because all completed materials, including candidacy support petition signatures, are due by 11:59 p.m. (Mountain time) on March 1, 2022.
Once your completed candidacy packet request form is received, PERA will email you the candidacy packet materials. To be placed on the ballot, a candidate must fulfill the requirements explained in the candidacy packet materials and will be subject to a background check.
The Board of Trustees meets at least five times per year and is responsible for adopting the rules and policies for the administration of PERA. Elected Board members serve without pay, but are reimbursed for necessary expenses.
Ballots will be mailed in early May to active members in the State, School, and Local Government Divisions. Active State Division members will vote for one candidate for the Higher Education 4-year seat and one candidate for the Special Election 2-year seat.
