Colorado PERA's Long-Term Care Program
About PERA's Long-Term Care Program
PERA offered a long-term care program to members, retirees, and their eligible family members from January 1998 through November 2010. The program is now closed to new applicants. Existing policies remain in force as long as premiums are paid.
After MetLife, the latest insurer, announced that it was discontinuing the sale of long-term care insurance products, PERA conducted an extensive review of the long-term care insurance market. Many carriers have exited the market over the years, and the long-term care insurance industry continues to be challenged. The PERA Board of Trustees has determined that it will not be seeking a new insurer in the foreseeable future.
Members and retirees who are interested in long-term care insurance are encouraged to consult with their personal financial planners and/or insurance agents about individual products that might be available.Contact Information for Closed Long-Term Care Plans
